Rust And Corrosion Preventive

Asfosil-B15 is a waxy type rust preventive containing rust inhibitors and film forming ingredients. It produces a colourless soft wax like film, giving indoor protection of 12-15 months.

Uses:

 

It is mainly used as a sealant for machine parts, components and assemblies. It is also used for providing extended protection to phosphatised, blackodised or plated parts. It can also be used for protection of moving components as it has good lubricating properties.

 

Application :

 

It is mainly used by dipping method in a M.S. or Plastic container at room temperature with immersion time of 2-5 minutes. It can also be used by spray, brush or swab for larger components. It is to be used directly without any dilution. Parts and components must be completely clean before applying Asfosil-B15.

 

Removal :

 

Whenever desired, the film can be easily removed by Kerosene, M.T.O., thinners, etc. by wiping or dipping. It can also be removed in a 10% solution of Stripper-HD or similar alkaline cleaners.

 

Notes :

 

• Asfosil-B15

must be used and stored in a well-ventilated area and away from open flames.

• When not in use, the tanks should be kept tightly covered.

• No naked flame permitted in proximity while spraying this product.

ASFOSIL-DW-80 is a clear transparent fluid containing solvents, water-displacing additives and rust inhibitors. It has the unique property of displacing water and moisture completely from the metal surface with a micro-fine rust-inhibiting film to give protection for a few days. It gives a dry type clear film less than a micron in thickness. Dewatering type rust preventive. Parts treated with ASFOSIL-DW80 can easily be spot welded.

 

USES:

It is mainly used for displacing water from parts and components after water washing or water rinsing to give temporary protection. It is used to give temporary indoor protection for parts in process, assembly or fabrication. ASFOSIL-DW80 is also used in ultrasonic cleaning machines to clean parts and components after assembly to remove finger prints, moisture, dirt, etc.

 

APPLICATION:

 

ASFOSIL-DW80 is to be used as supplied without dilution by dip, spray, brush, wipe or swab, at room temperature. Best dewatering properties are obtained by dipping parts for 2-5 minutes. ASFOSIL-DW80 can also be circulated through empty fuel tanks and pipelines to displace water and moisture and give temporary protection.

 

Note: It is absolutely necessary that parts be completely clean and free from rust, scale, grease, oil, etc. prior to application.

 

NOTES:

 

1. ASFOSIL-DW80 must be used and stored in a well-ventilated, cool, dry place, away from open flames.

2. M.S. or plastic containers having lids may be used. The lids should be kept covered when not in use.

3. Parts applied with ASFOSIL-DW80 may then be dipped in our ASFOSIL-SL or ASFOSIL-30B or ASFOSIL-33 (depending on the type of film desired) for longer protection.

ASFOSIL DW

ASFOSIL-DW is a dewatering type temporary rust preventive fluid manufactured by Ashok Industry. ASFOSIL-DW has the unique property of displacing water completely from metallic surfaces and giving temporary protection against rust and corrosion for upto 9 months.

 

ASFOSIL-DW is widely used in the engineering, automotive and machine tool industry to prevent rusting of ferrous parts and components temporarily during process or storage.

ASFOSIL-GY is a solvent based rust preventive fluid, containing rust inhibitors, and organic additives. It produces a dry light brown film giving indoor protection of 12 months and outdoor protection of upto 6 months and when packed well in indoor conditions the protection period is two years.

Uses:

ASFOSIL-GY is used for rust protection of ferrous as well as non-ferrous parts. It is also applied on chrome or nickel plated M.S. surfaces. It is also widely used for protection of spare-parts and large fabricated components.

Applications:

ASFOSIL-GY can be applied by dip, spray, brush or swab at room temperature. It is to be used as supplied without dilution. Once applied, it usually dries within 1 hour. Drying should be carried out in open dry and well-ventilated areas. Parts should be handled with care during drying to prevent damage to film. The parts must be absolutely clean prior to application.

 

Removal:

Whenever desired, ASFOSIL-GY film can be removed easily by wiping it with cloth soaked in kerosene or M.T.O., or dipping the parts in these solvents.

ASFOSIL-MS is a solvent based rust preventive containing resins, rust inhibitors and organic additives. It produces a golden yellow film coating about 5 microns in thickness and gives indoor protection for about 10 months.

 

USES :

 

ASFOSIL-MS is used for temporary protection of ferrous and non-ferrous parts. It is generally used for protection of non-moving parts and components. It is also applied on chrome or nickel plated surfaces specially during monsoon to prevent rust.

 

APPLICATION :

 

ASFOSIL-MS can be applied by dip, spray, brush or swab. It is to be used as supplied without any thinning or dilution at room temperature. Once applied, it usually dries within 10 minutes. Drying should be carried out in open dry and well-ventilated areas. Parts should be handled with care during drying to prevent damage to film. Packing of parts should be done only after the film has completely dried.

 

NOTE:

 

Parts should be free from oil, grease, rust, scales, etc. before applying ASFOSIL-MS.

 

REMOVAL :

 

ASFOSIL-MS may be removed with solvents such as Xylene, Toluene, Naptha, M.T.O. etc.

4. If due to evaporation of solvent, ASFOSIL-MS has become viscous, then thinning should be done by adding ASFOSIL-TH.

5. Cleaning of spray nozzles, tanks, etc. should be done using xylene, toluene, Naptha or ASFOSIL-TH.

ASFOSIL-398 is a thick soft film type long term protective applied by hand smearing or by brush on plain surfaces or by hot dipping for spare parts and complicated structures. This gives protection of about 2 years under indoor conditions and the film can be easily removed by kerosene or turpentine whenever desired. ASFOSIL-398 conforms to IS 6048-1970 specification.

 

USES:

 

ASFOSIL-398 being a long term rust protective is used on ferrous parts or components requiring protection upto 2 years. It gives lubricity to parts, hence it can also be used on moving parts or components such as camshafts, gears, bearings, etc.

 

APPLICATION :

 

Surfaces should be absolutely clean (free of rust, oil, dust, etc.) prior to the application of ASFOSIL-398. It is applied by smearing it by hand on the parts to be protected. It can also be applied by hot dipping method. Thinner films will be obtained at higher temperatures and vice-versa. For maximum protection it should be used directly without thinning with solvents.

 

REMOVAL OF FILM :

 

ASFOSIL-398 film can be easily removed by Kerosene, M.T.O., Diesel or Solvents. After cleaning, the parts should be wiped dry or else a slight oily film may remain which can be removed by hot alkaline solutions.

 

NOTES :

 

• For hot dipping application, M.S. tanks or containers can be used.
• Cleaning can be carried out using Kerosene, M.T.O., Thinner, etc.

ASFOSIL-33 is a solvent deposited resinous based rust preventive fluid, containing rust inhibitors, and organic additives. It produces a dry clear hard film giving indoor protection of 24 months and outdoor protection of up to 12 months. Parts applied with ASFOSIL-33 can be over painted.

 

USES:

 

ASFOSIL-33 is used for rust protection of ferrous as well as non-ferrous parts. It is widely used for protection of exterior surfaces of machinery, pipelines and parts where ease of film removal is not a major consideration. One of the major uses is for protection of ferous parts meant for export. Since the film obtained is dry and hard it is not recommended for use on moving machinery parts.

 

APPLICATION :

 

ASFOSIL-33 can be applied by dip, spray or brush at room temperature. It is to be used as supplied without dilution. Once applied, it usually dries within ½ hour. Drying should be carried out in open dry and well-ventilated areas. Parts should be handled with care during drying to prevent damage to film. The parts must be absolutely clean prior to application. If thinner film is desired then ASFOSIL-33 can be diluted with ASFOSIL-TH thinner.

 

REMOVAL :

 

If desired, ASFOSIL-33 film can be removed by dipping the parts in solvents, such as Xylene, Toluene, Benzene etc.

1. ASFOSIL-33 must be stored and used in a well-ventilated area away from flames.

2. Shelf-life of ASFOSIL-33 in sealed containers is 6 months from date of manufacture.

ASFOSIL-QD50 is a solvent based rust preventive containing resins, rust inhibitors and organic additives. It produces a transparent hard film coating about 5 micron in thickness and gives indoor protection of about 10 months.

 

USES :

ASFOSIL-QD50 is used for temporary protection of ferrous and non-ferrous parts. It is generally used for protection of non-moving parts and components.

ASFOSIL-QD50 can be applied by dip, spray or brush. It is to be used as supplied without any thinning or dilution at room temperature. Once applied, it usually dries within 10 minutes. Packing of parts should be done only after the film has completely dried.

ASFOPEEL manufactured by Ashok Industry is a solvent based temporary protective. ASFOPEEL when applied, produces a uniform transparent elastic coating which can be easily peeled off when desired. ASFOPEEL prevents the parts and components from scratches, dirt, abrasion, moisture, rust and corrosion.

 

ASFOPEEL being highly resistant to acidic and alkali solution is also used as a masking compound during electroplating to prevent unwanted areas from getting plated.

 

ASFOPEEL is widely used on aluminium name plates, labels and extrusions. It is also used for protection of cutting tools, valves, gaskets, cylinders, bearing covers, gears, laminates and various other parts and components.

 

ASFOPEEL is to be applied either by brush, or dip at the room temperature, without any dilution. For spray application ASFOPEEL-50 is available. ASFOPEEL is available in two standard packings of 5 Lits & 30 Lits.

Corobit-410 manufactured by Ashok Industry is a water soluble rust preventive which is used for protection of ferrous parts and components from rust and corrosion for periods ranging from one week to six months. Corobit-410 can be diluted from 2 parts to 40 parts with water depending on the protection period required. Unlike petroleum based rust preventives, it does not harm rubber, polymers, or painted surfaces and the film/coating need not be removed or is easily removable with water if so desired.

Corobit-410 is available in 6 Kgs and 40 Kgs HDPE Carboys.

COROBIT-VP manufactured by Ashok Industry is a vapour phase corrosion inhibitor used for prevention of rust and corrosion of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

It is available in powder form and when sprinkled in enclosed systems, it emits vapours which forms invisible protective film on surrounding metallic surfaces thus preventing corrosion.

COROBIT-VP can be applied by various means – either by sprinkling powder on various objects or in boxes, cartons etc. or it can be diluted in alcohols and then sprayed on objects, or papers, or cartons.Its corrosion inhibitors, corrosion preventives.

Asfosil-WS is a water emulsifiable oil based liquid which simultaneously cleans and imparts a light, rust protective coating on ferrous parts & alloys. It may also be used for removing light soils from any metal. Protection period ranges from few days to six months depending on dilution ratio with water.

Properties:

Appearance : Dark brown Liquid.

Solubility : Soluble in a wide variety of oils and solvents. Emulsifies readily in water.

Corrosion : Non-corrosive to ferrous alloys, aluminium, magnesium, plated metals,

Copper alloys and other commonly used metals.

Rust Protection : Provides protection against rusting of parts during exposure to atmosphere

and for short term periods during plant processing or storage.

Cleaning : ASFOSIL-WS is designed primarily as a rust preventive. However, it will

effectively remove light oil and soil deposits in hot water solution.

Flash Point : Above 250F.

Foaming : Non-foaming in power spray equipment.

Coverage : About 150 sq.ft. per litre if used direct without dilution with water. If used

with water, coverage can be multiplied as per the water dilution ratio.

Application :

For protection for few days prepare a 3% solution of ASFOSIL-WS with water. A 10% solution will give 1 month protection and for 6 months protection use ASFOSIL-WS directly. Always add ASFOSIL-WS to water and mix thoroughly well, till complete emulsification takes place. It can be used by dipping or spray at room temperature or upto 80???C. Simultaneous cleaning and protection can be done by this method. For cleaning purpose the parts are not rinsed with water and the emulsified liquid of ASFOSIL-WS is allowed to dry on the surface leaving a light protective film.

Removal:

Asfosil-WS film can be easily washed off with water whenever desired.

Toxicity & Hazard :

Asfosil-WS is classified as a non-hazardous industrial processing compound. No special precautions are required for protection of using personnel. It is non flammable.
